Kevin Lee, director of operations and design at Ohana Building Supply, describes the transformation of this ‘Ewa Beach home as “night and day.” The foreclosed residence sat untouched in disarray for at least a decade until a project team revived the property through extensive restoration and renovations.
“Outside, the paint was faded and the yard was a pile of dirt with no landscaping,” Lee says. Inside, “not a single wall was white and none of the [air conditioning] was working. But once it was gutted and new drywall was up, things looked a lot better and was a perfect blank slate for a remodel.”
Updates to four bedrooms, three bathrooms, the kitchen and the garage comprised a project scope totaling 1,500 square feet. Makeovers of the kitchen and bathrooms were most remarkable for the project team that turned these previously dingy areas into clean, modern spaces. The kitchen now has fresh koa vinyl plank flooring, frameless white shaker cabinets and engineered quartz counters. Cherry wood cabinets and travertine tile revitalize the bathrooms.
The crew cut down the old interior staircase wall and replaced it with a contemporary glass-and-stainless-steel railing system. This design opened the kitchen and dining area to natural light and connected the adjacent spaces more fluidly.
“Elevating the space was the biggest challenge,” Lee says. “We wanted something special to make this house feel better-than-new.”
The turnkey renovation of the property for a local family was successful, Lee adds. The home’s cozy new look “made us want to live there too!”
